On 6 March 2024, the Hon Linda Burney MP, Minister for Indigenous Australians, visited CASS Gumnut Early Learning Centre – Hurstville to view how the Strong Communities Programme grant helped the child care centre.
Henry Pan OAM, Founding Chairperson and Honorary Executive Director; Tony Pang OAM, Deputy Chairperson and Secretary of the Board; Dorothy Hung, General Manager of CASS Child Care, Vocation & Training Services; Hun Low, Senior Executive Officer of Technical Support Services, Wei Shi, Executive Officer of CASS Child Care Services and Wendy Xu, Teaching Director of CASS Gumnut Early Learning Centre – Hurstville, warmly welcomed Minister Burney.
CASS Gumnut Early Learning Centre – Hurstville was a recipient of the Stronger Communities Programme grant, which facilitated the implementation of two key projects:
Improvement facilities for our centre: This project focused on enhancing our outdoor amenities by installing a water trough, providing convenient access to drinking water for children. Additionally, it facilitated the creation of a dedicated handwashing area to uphold hygiene standards.
Upgrade of centre’s facility: This project replaced children’s nappy changing and bath cabinet sets, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our children.
During her tour of the centre, Minister Burney conveyed her satisfaction with the successful completion of two projects. She actively engaged with our children, gaining firsthand insight into the positive impact of our programs. Our children, in a heartwarming gesture, expressed their gratitude by presenting Minister Burney with their handcrafted flowers and cards, extending heartfelt thanks for her invaluable support. Minister Burney enthusiastically participated in our children’s activities, fostering joyful interactions and creating memorable moments for all involved.
