CASS Activity Centre, Purpose Built for People with Disability

July 27, 2020

In Australia, there are many community services that provide support to those in need and vulnerable groups in our society. Providers have continued their service delivery even during the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, and CASS Disability Services (DS) is one of the many. Since the start of its service provision in 2003, CASS DS has been dedicated to provide quality care and support to people with disability in the community.

On 13 July 2020, CASS DS started its Centre-Based Program for people with disability in Campsie and the Activity Centre was purposely built for them with the space and facilities to help individuals to develop their independent living skills, participate as valued and active community members and achieve their personal goals. This is an extension to the program provided in the CASS Peakhurst Activity Centre, with the aim to serve more people with disability, their families and carers.

During the pandemic, CASS DS’ Chinese and Korean Carers Groups also have been operating as usual. These two groups provide platforms to enable carers to build social networks, exchange experiences in caring for people with disability and obtain useful community information etc. In addition, these activities have been included online as a new way for carers to participate, especially for those who are unable to leave their homes.

Apart from the Centre-Based Programs and Carers Groups, CASS DS also offers a wide range of Disability Services. For more information please contact (02) 9703 6298 or visit http://casscare.org.au.
