【Trinity celebration: CASS celebrates three milestones in serving the community】
On Thursday, 5 December, we proudly celebrated three significant milestones in the advancement of community services at the Orion Function Centre. We marked the 30th anniversary of Settlement Services, the 25th anniversary of Home Aging Services, and the 15th anniversary of weekly column under the pen name Kending. These achievements highlight our ongoing commitment to enhancing community support and well-being.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including The Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Minister for Cyber Security, and Minister for the Arts; The Hon David Coleman MP, Shadow Minister for Communications; Council officers, community leaders, corporate partners, among others.
Mr Henry Pan OAM, our esteemed Foundation Chairperson and Honorary Executive Director, was joined by Dr Leng Tan, our respected Emeritus Chairperson, and Vice-Chairpersons Mr Sean Zhang, Ms Tica Lee and Mr Ivan Wong, alongside other Board members and management staff as we celebrated this significant occasion.
In her keynote address representing CASS, Dr Tan confidently highlighted the importance of the three key milestones achieved by CASS over the decades.
“Today, we are proud to celebrate three significant milestones in CASS’s journey of service and support:
30th Anniversary of Settlement Services: Since 1994, CASS has grown from a single worker to a dedicated team supporting Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese migrants, helping them feel at home in Australia.
25th Anniversary of CASS Home Ageing Services: Starting in 1999 with just 30 Chinese seniors, this service now assists over 2,300 seniors from diverse backgrounds, including Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Singaporean. This growth is a testament to our team’s vision and our valuable partnerships.
15 Years of the CASS Column: Under the pen name Kending, this column shares the stories and experiences of our service users, volunteers, and staff in Chinese, English, and Korean, celebrating their journeys and contributions to our community”.
Among the VIP guests’ speeches to the audience, the Guest of Honour, Hon Tony Burke MP, and special guest, Hon David Coleman MP, praised our achievements over the years and wholeheartedly recognised our significant contribution to Australian society. Furthermore, Mr Pino Migliorino AM, the Managing Director of Cultural Perspective Group, shared his vision of witnessing CASS’ dedicated and active involvement with the community.
As we celebrate these significant milestones, it is important to acknowledge that each accomplishment reflects the unwavering commitment of our colleagues and the invaluable support from our partners. Your steadfast contributions have been instrumental in achieving our current success. We are excited to build on this collaboration and confidently pursue our mutual goals as we move forward.
