The COVID-19 pandemic has an unprecedented impact on every individual and organization. For CASS Care, as the demand for community services surged amid the pandemic and lockdown, our Human Resources team became one of the busiest departments, playing a critical role in coping with manpower needs as well as keeping the organisation running smoothly.

The number of employees at CASS Care has increased from 340 in June 2019 to its current team of 450. It is not hard to imagine how much recruitment effort and onboarding support our Human Resources team has done behind the scenes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also challenged our HR team to maintain the conventional HR practices. β€œOur frontline workers still worked very hard as normal during this critical time, while some of the colleagues adopted remote work to maintain social distancing. To keep the newcomers connected with and integrated into our organizational system was another challenge we had to handle.” shared by one of our HR team members, Yu.

Yu continued to share, β€œIt is very thankful to see our colleagues working very hard as always amid the pandemic to ensure the people in our community can receive the most appropriate services. Therefore, we have to ensure we can readily provide the most powerful backup support for them.”

This April, we had to change the provider of ”Employee Fringe Benefits Tax Service”. A series of research and screening had been done to find the most suitable service provider which could offer e-payment and provide sufficient support. Colleagues can now use the Apps on their mobiles to pay, check the balance and details of transaction. At the same time, they can enjoy the discount coupons offered by different shops.

Yu said, β€œWe had done lots of preparation work to make sure a smooth transition could be executed. All relevant information and instructions were given out in a reading friendly format to all colleagues for their easy understanding. And we also tried to be more proactive in handling any possible enquires and questions to ensure all colleagues were on the same track.”

Yu said with a sweet smile, β€œWe deeply appreciated the mutual understanding and support among all colleagues during the entire journey.”

CASS Care is like a big family, holding hands together to go through all the tough waves in the turbulent sea. As we all know, we are doing good deeds for the community.
