【CASS Volunteers’ Thanksgiving Luncheon to celebrate 40th Anniversary – 30 March 2021】

CASS held a Volunteers’ Thanksgiving Luncheon at Marigold Restaurant on 30 March 2021. This is an annual event to appreciate the dedicated volunteers for their hard work. There were more than 200 attendees. This year’s event is even more auspicious as CASS marks 40th anniversary in March 2021.
Special guests included Councillor Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of City of Sydney who was represented by Councillor Jess Scully, Deputy Lord Mayor, Hon David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks, Hon Tony Burke MP, Federal Member for Watson represented by Ms Anne Sinclair, Mr Alister Henskens MP, State Member for Ku-ring-gai, Ms Sophie Cotsis MP, State Member for Canterbury, Ms Jenny Leong MP, State member for Newtown, Dr Cedric Spencer, Deputy Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Council, Councillor Craig Chung of the City of Sydney, Councillor Nancy Liu and Councillor Christina Wu of the Georges River Council and other special guests.
Members of the Board of Directors of the parent entity of CASS were present at the event. Dr Bo Zhou, CASS Chairperson expressed his appreciation to the volunteers for their contributions and said “The development and running of CASS rely on the dedication and contribution of many volunteers, resulting in CASS being able to provide a comprehensive range of community services over the last four decades.” Volunteers’ selfless input were recognised through the presentation of CASS Service Awards and Certificate of Appreciation.
The important role of CASS and its volunteers were praised by Ms Jess Scully, Hon David Coleman MP and Ms Anne Sinclair in their speeches. Ms Sophie Cotsis also complimented the work of late Chief Operations Manager, Ms. Maria Cheng and expressed that Maria was an outstanding and selfless individual who devoted her life to serving the community. Ms Sophie Cotsis paid tribute to Maria in the NSW Parliament and Maria’s work has been recorded in the Hansard.
CASS Activity Group members performed entertaining dance programs and the Luncheon wrapped up with the highly anticipated Lucky Draw! All guests and volunteers enjoyed each other’s company in compliments!
