
Congratulations To CASS on Winning 2021 Premier’s Multicultural Community Medal
CASS, a dedicated and passionate community services provider supporting the Australian multicultural community for 40 years, has won honour in the 2021 Premier’s Multicultural Community Medal!
It was the winner of the 2021 Not-For-Profit Business Excellence Medal which was presented by The Hon Dr Geoff Lee MP, NSW Minister for Multiculturalism, at the Premier’s Harmony Dinner held on 13 March 2021 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney. The late Chief Operations Manager of CASS, Ms. Maria Cheng, was also inducted onto the Multicultural Honour Roll.
Hosted by the Minister for Multiculturalism, in the presence of The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP, Premier of New South Wales, the Premier’s Harmony Dinner is a glittering gala to recognise and celebrate the significant contributions made by people of our multicultural community. The Premier said, “I am proud of our successful multicultural society based on equality of opportunity, tolerance and respect. I would like to thank you for supporting the measures put in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus.” She also congratulated and thanked all nominees, medal winners and the families of the Honour Roll inductees for their achievements.
“The Premier’s Harmony Dinner makes a significant moment when we come together as a community to celebrate our cultural diversity in NSW. Like tonight’s event, it presents a precious opportunity to thank and honour the many people and community groups who strengthen our harmonious way of life”, stated by The Hon. Dr Geoff Lee MP.
Dr. Bo Zhou, the Chairperson of CASS, received the Award and expressed his sincere appreciation for the acknowledgement of the work of CASS for the past 40 years. He said “CASS was formed in 1981 and it has grown into a major social and welfare services provider with a very comprehensive range of community services serving more than 3,500 families of multicultural backgrounds each week, including Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, etc. The services provided by CASS are residential aged care, child care, home ageing and disability services, settlement and health services, vocation and training services, volunteering services, Chinese language classes, cultural and interests classes. This Award is undoubtedly the greatest compliment to CASS.”
Dr. Leng Tan, Emeritus Chairperson of CASS, received the Certificate of Induction of 2021 Premier’s Multicultural Honour Roll on behalf of the family of the late Ms. Maria Cheng, which was presented by Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP, acknowledging Maria’s tireless devotion and selfless dedication to serve the multicultural communities in NSW. During the presentation of the certificate, a video of Maria’s contribution to the community was also shown.
Mr. Henry Pan OAM, Founding Chairperson and Honorary Executive Director, Mr. Anthony Pang, Deputy Chairperson / Secretary and several senior staff members of CASS attended the dinner and shared the great delight of the remarkable recognition.
The Premier’s Harmony Dinner is an important annual event organised by Multicultural NSW. It is aimed at celebrating a cohesive and inclusive multicultural society and recognising those who have contributed to the multicultural development in NSW.
